Blood Drive ’22

Blood Drive ’22

As Nixor Hospital conducts various events that help our society and the people in need, similarly Nixor Hospital conducted a Blood Drive at Nixor College in collaboration with Indus Hospital. As the Blood Drive was conducted on Nixor Day, there was an added incentive of House Points for failed screenings and successful donations.

Before the Blood Drive took place, we volunteers were supposed to market the message for Blood Drive to the Nixor Community. We implemented our own unique methods of marketing such as giving out stickers, making vibrant, colourful posters, distributing brochures, etc.

This Blood Drive was a marvelous opportunity for me to participate in; we were assigned duties such as providing moral support, guiding male and female donors to their respective rooms, ensuring they had gone through the proper procedures for a successful donation, etc. The executives also set an excellent example by giving blood themselves.

Prior to the actual donation, donors had to undergo screening to ensure they fulfilled the eligibility criteria, and to avoid any mishaps to the donor’s health upon donation. After donating 1 pint of blood, donors were finally seen happy as they got juices for rehydration and biscuits for blood glucose level regulation. Along with this, we made sure to provide moral support to donors who had phobias of needles and such. I even made sure to provide each and every one of them information regarding the Blood Drive. My experience during the whole journey of the initiative was quite enlightening. Looking at the enthusiasm of the donors and the organizing team, it also encouraged the patients’ relatives to come forward for the donation. The success of the event has further encouraged me to participate in such events and help more people.

Overall, with a satisfied heart and a smile on our faces, we are able to say that it was a successful drive. We look forward to conducting similar successful projects throughout the year.
