My first camp was an experience I will genuinely treasure and that tugged on my heartstrings. It helped me find a new outlook on life and a newfound love for helping people by giving me the much needed kick out of my fool’s paradise.

The most memorable part of the event for me was when this little girl I helped talk to the doctor grabbed onto my leg while I ushered her to the waiting lounge to bring the medicines she had been prescribed. After multiple promises that I would come back to her she let me go and when I came back to find her she smiled so brightly that all the stress and fatigue subsided and in that moment nothing could draw my eyes away from her. I was probably nothing more than an usher to her, but to me she was a person I don’t ever plan on forgetting.
